Have been wanting to paint here for a long time. Today was the day. Now I want to go back. There’s a lot more there to paint.
Granite boulders offer many gorgeous sculptural subjects in this area north of Tucson near Rancho Linda Vista. Thanks to Pastelfish for getting me out to paint!
On this day, sunrise came quicker than I hoped (since I was late arriving). Funny how paying attention to shape, value, color makes things work. Often accidentally.
I returned to Oracle to paint more, but didn’t get any good results! It’s too hot right now to paint any later in the day than maybe 7 a.m. That might have something to do with my concentration. The spectacular views and light conditions there are difficult to capture at the instant of observation, as well.
“Grill, Charred” was recognized for second place in the Artist category of the TPAPS Spring 2014 Show.
See the entire show of plein air creations at Plaza Palomino at Swan and Ft. Lowell here in Tucson until April 27, 2014. Gallery is open 10 to 5 daily.
